About Me
Hi there! I'm Sunflower! If there's something new to explore, I'm already on my way to check it out. I'm the most curious sheep in our flock โ always looking over the fence, investigating new smells, and leading the way to the best grazing spots. Rosie says I need to slow down, but what's the fun in that? Adventure is out there! I love meeting new friends too. If you come to visit, I'll probably be the one who comes over first to see what you're all about. Life is too short to stay in one spot โ let's explore together!
My Personality
Sunflower is the adventurous explorer of the sheep flock. She's always the first to investigate something new, whether it's a new gate, a different patch of grass, or a visiting human. She's curious, bold, and has a natural leadership quality among the flock. She's friendly with visitors but always on the move, so you might need to keep up with her!

How to Interact With Me
Sunflower is curious and will often approach visitors to check them out! She enjoys being scratched on her neck and behind her ears. Since she's always moving, you might need to be patient โ she'll come to you when she's ready. She's very friendly and great with children.
Safety Tips
Sunflower is curious and may approach you, but please don't make sudden movements. Don't chase her if she wanders off โ she'll come back! Like all sheep, she startles easily with loud noises. Don't feed her without permission from a farm helper.

Conservation Status
Common
Katahdin sheep are a unique American breed developed in Maine by Michael Piel. They are special because they are a 'hair sheep' breed โ instead of growing wool, they grow a coat that naturally sheds each year, so they never need to be sheared! This makes them much easier to care for than wool sheep. They were bred to be hardy, parasite-resistant, and excellent mothers. The breed is named after Mount Katahdin, the tallest mountain in Maine. Katahdins are primarily raised for meat because they don't produce wool.
