About Me
Hello, dear! I'm Daphne, and I'm the mama bear of the donkey group here at Pine Acres. I keep an eye on everyone and make sure they're all behaving themselves โ especially Spots, who's always getting into something! I came to the farm a few years ago and quickly became the heart of our little donkey family. I'm calm, caring, and I love a good ear scratch. If you visit me, I'll probably come right up to say hello. I take care of my donkey friends and I'll take care of you too with a warm welcome!
My Personality
Daphne is the gentle mother figure of the group. She's nurturing, patient, and watches over the other donkeys like a loving guardian. She's the first to investigate when something new happens and the last to leave when someone needs company. She has a warm, welcoming presence that puts both animals and visitors at ease.

Safety Tips
Daphne is very gentle, but please approach her calmly. Don't make loud noises or sudden movements. Donkeys have excellent hearing, so please don't shout near her ears. Don't feed her without asking a farm helper first!

About the Miniature Donkey
Native Country
Mediterranean (Sicily and Sardinia)
Lifespan
25-35 years
Diet
Grass, hay, and small amounts of grain
Conservation Status
Common
Miniature donkeys originated on the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia, where they were bred for their small size and gentle temperament. They were brought to the United States in the 1920s. Unlike standard donkeys, mini donkeys stand under 36 inches tall at the shoulder. They are naturally social, intelligent, and form lifelong bonds with their herd mates. Their large ears help them hear predators from far away and regulate their body temperature.
