Mini Donkey ยท Miniature Donkey

The playful youngster who loves to run and play.

About Me

Hi! I'm Sadie! I'm the youngest and most playful member of our donkey family, and I have energy to spare! My favorite thing in the world is running, jumping, and playing games. I'll chase Spots around the pasture, play tag with the wind, and bounce around just for fun. Daphne says I'll calm down when I'm older, but I hope not โ€” being playful is the best! I love meeting new friends, especially kids who like to play as much as I do. Come visit me and we can have some fun together!

My Personality

Sadie is the playful youngster of the group โ€” always bouncing, running, and looking for the next game. She's energetic, joyful, and brings a spark of fun to the whole herd. She's curious but in a bouncy, playful way rather than a mischievous way like Spots. She loves attention and gets excited when visitors come to say hello.

About the Miniature Donkey

Native Country

Mediterranean (Sicily and Sardinia)

Lifespan

25-35 years

Diet

Grass, hay, and small amounts of grain

Conservation Status

Common

Miniature donkeys originated on the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia, where they were bred for their small size and gentle temperament. They were brought to the United States in the 1920s. Unlike standard donkeys, mini donkeys stand under 36 inches tall at the shoulder. They are naturally social, intelligent, and form lifelong bonds with their herd mates. Their large ears help them hear predators from far away and regulate their body temperature.
