The pig who loves belly rubs more than anything.

About Me

Oh, hello there, sweetie! I'm Precious, and I have one true love in this world: belly rubs. If you scratch my belly, I will be your best friend forever. I'll roll right over, close my eyes, and make the happiest little pig sounds you've ever heard. Merlin thinks he's in charge, but we all know who really runs things around here โ€” the one who can get belly rubs whenever she wants! I'm gentle, sweet, and I love making new friends. Come visit me and give me a scratch โ€” I promise it'll be the highlight of your day!

My Personality

Precious is the sweetheart of the pig group. She's gentle, loving, and absolutely adores attention โ€” especially belly rubs. She's the most outgoing with visitors and will happily roll over for anyone willing to scratch her. She's very affectionate and has never met a person she didn't want to befriend.

How to Interact With Me

Precious loves visitors and will often come right up to say hello! She loves being scratched on her sides and belly โ€” if you scratch the right spot, she'll happily roll over. She's very gentle and wonderful with children. Ask a farm helper if you can give her a belly rub!

Safety Tips

Precious is very gentle, but she's still a pig, so keep fingers away from her mouth. Don't feed her without permission from a farm helper. If she gets excited about belly rubs, she might nudge you with her snout โ€” that's normal and friendly!

Did You Know?

Mother pigs sing to their piglets while they're nursing โ€” it's a special grunting lullaby!

About the Kune Kune Pig

Native Country

New Zealand

Lifespan

15-20 years

Diet

Grass, vegetables, fruits, and small amounts of grain

Conservation Status

Recovering โ€” saved from near extinction in the 1970s

Kune Kune pigs are a heritage breed from New Zealand, believed to have been brought there by Maori sailors. They are unique among pigs because they can graze on grass alone โ€” they don't need the high-grain diet that commercial pigs require. They are much smaller than commercial pigs and have distinctive tassels called 'piripiri' hanging from their lower jaw. Kune Kune pigs are known for their extremely gentle and friendly temperament, making them excellent farm companions. They were nearly extinct in the 1970s but have been saved by dedicated breeders.
