About Me
Hey hey! I'm Speckles! Can you guess why? That's right โ I'm covered in little speckles! No two chickens have the exact same pattern of speckles, so I'm one of a kind. I'm a friendly, social hen who loves to scratch around the yard looking for bugs and seeds. I'm always busy, always moving, always finding something interesting. I'm not the loudest hen, but I'm definitely one of the most active. If you see a chicken running around with purpose, that's probably me on a mission. Come say hi โ I'll be the speckled one making herself useful!
My Personality
Speckles is the busy, active forager of the flock. She's always scratching, pecking, and moving โ she never sits still for long. She's friendly and curious, always the first to investigate a new patch of dirt. She's social with the other hens and loves being part of the group, but she's always the one finding the best snacks.

Conservation Status
Common
Chickens are descendants of the wild red junglefowl from Southeast Asia, domesticated over 8,000 years ago. Chickens have a natural instinct to scratch the ground with their feet to find seeds, insects, and other food. This behavior is called 'foraging' and it's how wild chickens survived before humans domesticated them. A chicken's feathers can come in thousands of different patterns and colors โ no two chickens look exactly alike! Chickens are omnivores, which means they eat both plants and animals, including seeds, insects, and even small lizards.
