The energetic young ram who's always on the move.

About Me

Hey! I'm Rambo! I'm the youngest and most energetic member of our sheep flock, and I've got energy for DAYS! Rosie and Sunflower try to keep up with me, but I'm always bouncing around, practicing my head-butting skills, and racing across the pasture. I'm not mean or anything โ€” I'm just full of life! When you're young, you've got to play hard, right? I'm friendly with visitors, especially kids who understand what it's like to have too much energy. Come visit me and watch me zoom around โ€” it's pretty entertaining!

My Personality

Rambo is the energetic, bouncy young ram of the flock. He's full of youthful energy and loves to play, run, and practice his head-butting. He's not aggressive โ€” just enthusiastic and full of life. He's friendly with visitors but can be a bit much for very young children due to his energy level. He's curious about people and will often come to investigate.

How to Interact With Me

Rambo is energetic and curious! He may come over to check you out, but he might also be busy running around. He's friendly but bouncy, so approach him calmly. He likes being scratched on his neck and shoulders. He's especially fun for kids who have lots of energy themselves!

Safety Tips

Rambo is energetic and likes to head-butt things, so please don't bend down to his level. He's not trying to be mean โ€” it's just how young rams play! Keep a safe distance and don't encourage head-butting behavior. Don't feed him without permission.

Did You Know?

Male sheep are called rams, and they head-butt each other to play and show who's the strongest!

About the Katahdin Sheep

Lifespan

10-12 years

Diet

Grass, hay, and mineral supplements

Conservation Status

Common

Katahdin sheep are a unique American breed developed in Maine by Michael Piel. They are special because they are a 'hair sheep' breed โ€” instead of growing wool, they grow a coat that naturally sheds each year, so they never need to be sheared! This makes them much easier to care for than wool sheep. They were bred to be hardy, parasite-resistant, and excellent mothers. The breed is named after Mount Katahdin, the tallest mountain in Maine. Katahdins are primarily raised for meat because they don't produce wool.
