Fluffy

Chicken ยท Hen

The incredibly fluffy hen who looks like a feather duster.

About Me

Hi! I'm Fluffy, and I'm the softest, fluffiest chicken you'll ever see! My feathers are so fluffy and thick that I look like a little feather duster come to life. Some people think I'm wearing a feather coat, but nope โ€” this is just how I look! I'm a gentle, quiet hen who loves cozy corners of the coop and warm sunshine. I'm not as loud as Jake or as bossy as Queenie โ€” I prefer to keep to myself and look fabulous while doing it. Kids love me because I look like a stuffed animal. Come visit me and see the fluffiest chicken in all of Indiana!

My Personality

Fluffy is the gentle, soft-hearted hen of the flock. She's quieter than the others and prefers cozy spots in the coop. She's not shy exactly, just calm and content to observe. She's very photogenic because of her fluffy feathers and is a favorite among visitors who love unique-looking chickens.

Conservation Status

Common

Chickens are descendants of the wild red junglefowl from Southeast Asia, domesticated over 8,000 years ago. Some chicken breeds, like Silkies and Frizzles, have uniquely fluffy or curly feathers that make them look extra soft. Feathers are made of a protein called keratin โ€” the same material as human hair and nails! Chickens preen their feathers regularly to keep them clean, waterproof, and in good condition. A healthy chicken will have shiny, smooth feathers that protect them from sun, rain, and cold.
